Just an aimless topic related to recent events in my life.

So I met my newest niece Ashaunti today. Till today I'd never been near, seen or even held a newborn baby.

When I first walked in, at first I didn't even see her. She was smaller than the pillow she was lying near. I thought she was a pillow or sheet for a moment. Intrigued, I felt my more animalistic instincts perk up and I went to investigate this new bundle. Creeping closer so as not to rock the bed, I did the first part of investigating for any self respecting therian, I sniffed her. Teehee.

She smelled much like milk of course, a sorta sweet flower almost. Reaching out a paw, I felt the top of her head as she slept and it was surprisingly soft. I'd known it would be, but it was much like touching gel or some such warm thing. Although intrigued I left her to sleep, before she woke up hungry. My niece has a hearty appetite that's for sure.

Coming back, my sis asked me did I want to hold her. Immediately nervous to hold such a fragile creature, I kinda juggled her for a bit, before my simply rolled her onto my shoulder and said there. I was like wow, tiny wiggly creature and very red. Indeed I was duly fascinated, esp as later as I held her, she smiled at me and opened pretty little eyes to view the world. I was like aww, though I'm proud to say I wasn't reduced to a bundling idiot that's squeaks like a bird and is bound to burst her ear drums ;)

Already, she has such things in common with me as same production of body heat, very strong energy for a tike, light sensitivity, but I think that's just her coming into the world hehe.

Although one thing didn't change, my family says I have this weird thing, that whenever they, animals or other people come in contact with me, they feel unduly comforted. My mom was like my niece didn't utter a word, and she was like with her she wiggled and fussed and all, with me, she just fell into an absolute silence, that noone even worried as I held her, even if it was for the first time :D

So this wolf was charmed and fascinated by a newborn, teehee.

On a side note though, it really irritates me when i meet people like my mom and sis, who know I've never been around babies or much cared for them(Sticky fingers + fur = irate wolfy). They act like I don't understand motherhood. With the whole, now you see what I went through with all you kids, or laughing at me, cause I didn't know you boiled the nipples of the bottles and expected them to melt or something. I'm like yeah, for 23 years I avoided being around kids purposefully and I don't plan to have kids so it's like um, I'm not particularly going to read up on kids. So no I don't see what you went through as I never frowned on it, and respected that you have the heart, knowledge and patience to bear and raise young human critters. I just wish they'd respect that I don't really have the maternal instinct toward babies as I do animals. As it was, I wanted to lick my niece upon meeting her, and I don't really appreciate hearing the see this is how great I am for having babies, or see how unique it is. Like yeah I get it, but just understand if I hear that too much, someones going to get bit :P

For a few months last year I rented a room with a female freind of mine. She has a baby. The baby was only a few months old then. Before I lived with her I was unsure of if I wanted to have a baby eventually...now its like wow I want one eventually. Its just almost surreal to be holding this being that is 1/10th your size and to see it squirming around in your arms. It was a really cool experience. And yes I did get practce at changing diapers too lol.

I got too much practice changing diapers. Between my nephew and now my newest niece, it's like meh. I don't like diaper changing.

Rosey: I know about holding the critters and thinking you're doing it wrong. Esp with newborns, worry over the head falling back cause they can't support their own heads, so if you turn it wrong, they can suffocates.

That's why my sis had to put the baby on my shoulder, otherwise would've gave her back to my sis. lol

I kinda miss the little critter, and apparently she's gotten more noisy at two weeks now. heh

lol, yeah, little babies grow fast and are heavy if you hold them for overly long.

Felt like I'd grown muscle around christmas after holding my nephew for the better part of a day since my sis couldn't hold him and his little legs were too small to keep up with the crowds.

Strollers is a person's best friend with kids, whether yours or not.

Now I may be off to hawaii in may for the birthing of another niece, except different sister. I'm like gah, babies are being dropped like flies

i prefer fuzzy cute baby animals though, in terms of petting and holding. Kittens and baby bunnies are the cutest things in the world

Frog mating season is starting here again soon. There's a swamp behind my house with hundreds of frogs. Those little buggers can perform quite the symphony.
