This article cause many reactions within me. First was shock at the way they kill the seals and how inhumane their methods are. They claim it's humane to cut the artery under their flipper to ensure the seal is dead, but what of the bludgeoning leading up to it's inability to escape so you can cut it's artery, is that not inhumane?

Then there was a guilty reaction of when the people died, of serves them right. No creature deserves to die, but can't help that sense of victory that nature made sure it's laws weren't forgotten, take a life she nurtures and yours can be taken just as well or something like that.

They say to control the population, but then again, I can't help but think, what do we do to control our population from killing our planet. Do we do mass killing of kids to ensure we have food and water for tomorrow, are all the homeless in the world, up for a trophy kill so we can use their skin for warmth or fashion? Is it all right to bludgeon our neighbors to death and call it humane?

Then worse is when the hunters themselves admit it is cruel to walk out on ice and bludgeon and shoot to death young seals. Not the adults only the young. And still say, it sustains us, we've done it for over 500 years and yet it says they only just started the mass killing. Why not go for the adults? Why not span it out over a matter of time to eventually 'Cull' the herd as they say. I still think it's wrong and should be stopped or made to be more humane, than just saying hey look at the cash we get for killing baby seals.

It's just like the article on cows being mistreated, they are killed for food and profit, but it's made sure to be humane. When they were shown being bludgeoned that was inhumane and wasn't even the calves. :P

Of course I am very biased on this opinion, so I open the floor to whomever else has one.
