This simplistic ritual is mostly for protection. I never really understood it more than just protection and there are far more elaborate ways to call on the four Corners. There are many ways to do this ritual, so just thought post how I did it in the beginning.

Usually set it up in a diamond, circle, or square pattern, have North, east, south and west.

It's best to acquaint yourself with four elements first, before calling upon them or at least has worked in my favor. Generally after you set up your circle.

I used a lot of collective river rocks to outline my circle, and different representations of North= Earth(bevy of rocks), East= Air(Chimes and open window), South= Fire(Candle), and West= Water( Bowl of water). Once my circle had been completed, I stood in the middle of the circle and turned to the north. I usually lined up the circle according to actual direction of north, east, south and west. Anyway to the north I went and don't quite remember what i would say to introduce myself. Something between respect and friendship of their power.

Afterwards, could turn to each element and call upon them. Usually I just say something like "I call upon the element to the north earth, please lend this circle your strength (attribute of earth), then turn to east, 'I call upon the element to the east, Air, please lend this circle your (attributes) and so on till done with all elements.

mostly I do this to meditate or if having a really trippy time after some inadvertent astral traveling. It helps me to sleep well and wake up with renewed energy. Before leaving circle however, it is mostly recommended to send away the elements. Turning to each as before, I usually say "I call to the element to the north earth, thank you for lending this circle your strength, you may stay or you may go, however you mote it to be, or wish it to be. repeat to all other elements.

That's about all I remember for now.

I don't need to place the circle any longer, just liked it as felt more connected to elements, energy works the same and elements as well.

so as long as you are inside the circle you are protected? does this have any other purpose?

No problem, just know it's helped me a lot.

Yeah, this was about four years ago when I first performed this ritual. Shortly after I awakened, believed to perform rituals you needed tools. LOL. Don't always need them as I figured out. Can modify it to fit you however, this is just one I used then ^_^

No, you can leave the circle. As said don't really need tools or anything, so not always a defined circle or anything. But generally if you're doing astral travel or anything, usually you're in one spot. So your judgement stands. The elements will protect you mostly anytime you need if you respect them. Ish why I always say wind is strongest element for me, as well acquainted and other elements work. Water is best protector for unwanted entities as we all know and so on.

I think the sending away the elements is more so don't use up too much energy, or take elements for granted. As said, mostly for respecting the earth and her elements that lend you their attributes for protection, not for shield to everyday life. Guess it might be more spiritual? Not sure

I'm not really sure if it has any other purpose than to protect, or cast spells within. Sometimes its' good for meditation and recharging energy, guess would have to toy with it and see if anything works. heh.
