Well, it's been splashed all over the news, and radio here, so figure might as well post it up and have a discussion on it.

Umm, I haven't been able to watch them much though, so don't know how well a discussion this shall be. :P

*Goes a rummaging for news on olympics*

I'll get back to it, but yes, opinions up till I find a good article, are welcome.

Though I found it interesting that gymnasts use honey on their hands with the chalk to help keep a grip on the balance beams and such :)

Seems to be a general consensus of not watching sports here. I'd rather play them too, not that I've ended up doing that very often lately : / . I did manage to hear about the singer and fireworks display though. I'm divided on my opinion of it.

I love the olympics. In my opinion the olympics is a fleeting evanescent glimps of what may become world peace down the road for future generations. I mean the whole world gets together with their best athletes and competes, with good sportsmenship. It is friendly competition and non-violent but satisfying conflict, which is a necessity for the human soul to feel accomplishment. or maybe im just a cook :P

Might have a point there yetaro, though there's always issues going on with it as well. Such as some german team i think arguing over wearing some new speedos that gives them an edge over other teams or something and ppl arguing if chinese gymnasts are of legal age.

Personally, yeah, really don't have the time to sit and watch, but as said been on news and most here will tell me of it. So I technically watch it, heh.

Or rather listen and absorb to mull over later, heh

Well to be honest it's not surprising...having lived in Hong Kong you hear a lot of things about the chinese government and their opressive anti-democratic attitudes

Do you agree with these accusations, having been a lot closer to the PRC than I have, I am quite interested in your opinions.

Well it's weird with me..geographically close to china yes...but hong kong is..or was democratic..and the whole idea of china taking it over and removing hong kong's freedom is very distasteful and kind of makes me glad i'm not there to see it happen

as for close in terms of hearing more stuff...yeah i hear all kinds of shit about what china does..but it being hong kong when theres bad press the chinese government obviously isnt too happy about it
