Okay, so over the course of december, you get the most radical and ridiculous stories of the season in my opinion.

Driving to work two separate days I hear two radio broadcasts. One is these church women singing 'santa claus will take you to hell' to the oh so popular jingle of Santa claus is coming to town.

I couldn't do anything, but laugh out loud for the first five minutes after hearing the absolute idiocy of taking this to air. I mean they did make a point when they said that him being a symbol of giving you whatever you want, isn't necessarily a right image, but saying he's evil and going to lead you all to hell is a bit much in my opinion.

Then there were many other people who had an issue with the idea of christmas trees and decorations and wanting to sue a judge for having a christmas tree in the office. Even the term merry christmas was criticized and it just makes me wonder what people are really irritated about? Surely it can't be something as simple as one tradition. I could understand, if it was boiling babies alive or something, but honestly, this year was a bit much. Heh

Just thought I'd put this out there, see if any thoughts.

Yeah, people really did that. I think they missed the basic fact that you just got. It's supposed to be about family, closeness, and togetherness, not who's politically correct.

I think they made some teacher take a christmas tree out of the classroom as it was offensive.

I wonder if the sane ones are really the ones who are insane. If that made sense :P

Jeez. I really hate it when people go overboard with all that supposed pushing of other religions crap on them. Would you tell a jewish person not to wish someone a Happy Hanuka (not even going to try and spell that write, I've seen too many versions @ v @ ). If it's not forcing you to convert, then quit overreacting.

But the highly enthusiastic teen who caught me on the street in a bad mood on a cold winter afternoon asking if I was into Jesus and learning about how awesome he is, and if I could schedule a time to talk more about it . . . ha . . . Jesus is awesome and all, but no thanks. I was quite polite to him about not being interested. Lucky bastard. . . *coughs* aanyways, enough of that rant.

Didn't Jesus steal that birthday from pagans though? :p

Christ was born on or around Sept 20th. The celebration of his birthday was used in replaced the feast of Yule, a pagan holiday to help try and ease the conversion of a pagan empire to a christian one by Caesar Augustus. So that is why we celebrate Christmas when we do. So that the pagans and christians would celebrate together, and to help convert an empire to a new faith after the emperor had a vision. Now somebody ask me what the size of a horse's has to do with the space shuttle.

I was never religiously inclined even for christianity, so couldn't tell you whether it's true or not, or even nod wisely sadly.

Whether I am of the religion celebrating the day or not, still think shouldn't be this big deal about it. Or at least not so much emphasis on literals.

It's like when you debate something with someone sensitive. They tend to only focus on bad aspects they don't like than the overall message of promoting peace, not so much the religion
